When To Change Your Car Tires

When to change your car tires?

Car tires are one of the most essential features of a car as that is what your car is riding on. They can give you a smooth ride or a bumpy ride and hence are extremely important because no matter what car you have in the world it wouldn’t matter unless you have great tires in it too.

However, despite being one of the most important aspects they are also the most overlooked component of cars. Taking care of the tires of your car is honestly as important as taking care of your car but most people tend to neglect them and don’t consider them as important, besides the usual tire pressure checks.

Why do tires need to be replaced?

Several factors that cause the replacement of tires and wear them out are:

  • Driving style
  • Bad roads
  • Speed
  • Position
  • Load
  • Pressure
  • Alignment

Therefore, due to these factors, you need to change your tires.

Some factors that you should consider when you need to change your car tires are mentioned below:

Tread Depth:

If your tires are looking overused and worn out to you then there is a dire need to change them as soon as possible. Moreover, you can also conduct a ‘one rupee test’ which tells you your tread depth and indicates whether or not your car requires a replacement of tires. Tires should be replaced by the time they reach a tread depth of 1.6mm.

Alignment:

You should constantly keep a check on the alignment of your tires. This is extremely important and necessary as it helps you get the most out of your tires. If your wheels are not aligned you could feel wobbling or feel your car pulling up to one side or even your wheels not correcting or straightening properly after a turn. This is therefore a sign that you need to change the tires of your vehicle for more effectiveness and a better experience.

Tyre Grip:

This is an easy way to understand that your tires need to be changed soon. If the grip is out of order and you also feel a change while you are stopping the car then you need to replace your tires.

Air Pressure:

Checking your tire’s air pressure is extremely important. Checking it and maintaining it can drastically improve the life span of your tires. You need to ensure that your tires are neither underinflated nor are they overinflated as both have adverse effects. Generally, it is advised to maintain the tire pressure between 30-25 psi.

How often should you replace your tires?

Tires don’t have a specific lifespan hence you don’t have a set time period during which they are required to be changed. As mentioned above, your driving style, air pressure, alignment along other factors affect your tire’s lifespan. And hence subsequently they can improve the mileage of your tires as well. Therefore, tires should be replaced keeping in mind the tread depth and depending on how worn out they have become.

In conclusion, if you don’t replace your tires, they can impact you in a negative and harmful way. Often these worn-out tires are more prone to getting punctured. Moreover, they can also reduce the potential of your car being able to stop effectively on wet surfaces. If driving on uneven and wet surfaces they can also prove to be more harmful. Hence keep a lookout and change your car tires promptly!
